Welcome toLime Township, Minnesota

Nestled in the heart of Blue Earth County, just east of Mankato, Lime Township offers the perfect balance of rural charm and modern accessibility. With a rich history dating back to 1858, our township was named for the abundant limestone that shaped the land and supported early quarries, some of which supplied stone for notable buildings across the country. Today, Lime Township remains proud of its heritage while offering a welcoming community atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Spanning approximately 16.9 square miles, Lime Township is characterized by open landscapes, fertile farmland, and easy access to the scenic Minnesota River Valley. While largely rural in nature, the township benefits from its close connection to the City of Mankato, making it convenient for residents to enjoy nearby schools, businesses, recreation, and cultural opportunities. This unique location allows our community to maintain its peaceful countryside setting without sacrificing access to modern amenities.

Our residents enjoy a strong sense of community, excellent schools, and a high quality of life. With a population of just under 1,000, Lime Township is a place where neighbors know one another, families thrive, and open spaces provide endless opportunities for outdoor recreation such as biking, kayaking, and hiking. The area is also known for its attractive housing, with many residents choosing to settle here for the combination of rural living and close proximity to the region’s largest city.

Lime Township is committed to preserving its rural character while planning thoughtfully for the future. Whether you are a lifelong resident, a new homeowner, or a visitor discovering the area for the first time, we welcome you to explore everything our township has to offer.
